Ghost In The Shell Anime Review

Ghost In The Shell Anime Review

Ghost in the Shell truly does look beautiful. There is so much detail in the artwork in every single scene that it really does leave you amazed. It is also very deep and philisophical which I really liked and found interesting, at times even going into trance-like, surreal scenes.

One of the most memorable action scenes I have ever seen is also in this movie, a scene where Major Kusanagi, the main character, battles a giant spider-like tank thing in a building which I think is a museum. Rather than have the typical pumping music going, a very haunting and passive piece is played. It really creates a different and strange atmosphere, particularly when the tank finally starts ripping her apart towards the end.

It's dissapointing that the movie seems to end so soon and the story sort of gets lost in a way. Or maybe I just got lost... This is probably the result of cramming a few episodes of the comic together to make a movie. I don't know, it kind of seems more like a showcase for some philosophy and stunning graphics, a piece of art rather than a narrative. Whatever it is, it's certainly worth seeing at least once.
